The First Post of Many!

                                                     (The Very Fabulous London!)

Hello Everone!

So, today is August 9th, 2010 and this is officially the first post in my blog that I will keep over the course of this next year. I decided to start this blog because I love all of my friends and family, but emailing and facebooking and texting and commenting all of you the same stories over and over and over will make my fingers numb. So, I am joining the rest of the blogging world and will give you all of the detailed information about my travels. That will include the best food I ate in Madrid, the hot bartender at the Guinness Factory in Dublin and all of the wonders in London, of course! Then, in the spring, all of the hotspots in from Sydney to Brisbane to Melbourne in Australia and even New Zealand.

For those of you who don't know my tentative plan for the next year it goes a little something like this: I leave the fabulous state of New York on September 1st, 2010 and will be arriving in London on September 2, 2010 at around 9:30 in the morning. I will be taking three classes and then in November I will be starting an internship with a TBA business in London. When my program ends December 17th, I will then start a two week traveling adventure with some of my friends through New Years. Then I'll be home for January and then in late February I will be going to Brisbane, Australia for the spring semester of my junior year at American University.

On TOP of all of that, I was offered another internship with the company I was working for this summer, McGladrey, which is the fifth largest accounting firm in the United States. After coming home from Australia I plan to work there over the summer and will then sign the dotted line to work there upon graduating in May of 2012.

With all of that explanation out of the way, I can gladly tell you I just received an email from Britain saying that my Visa was accepted and I will be able to travel to London! For any of you who are deciding to go abroad my big recommendation for the summer is to do your Visa early. I have been freaking out for the past couple of weeks not knowing if it was going to go through and realizing I didn't have wiggle room to re-apply.

Another tip for traveling - use StudentUniverse.com. Shout out to (my shnookie bear) Ahmed who told me about the site. I got a ticket to London for around $300. All other websites had tickets that were $500+.

Just a note: I will be writing a lot of stuff down, and the posts will be long. I don't expect even my best of friends to want to read each one. However, I think that being able to Skype and iChat and call everyone will be very difficult and this will be the best way to find out "what's up" in my life. I don't take offense if you get bored, I'll probably get bored from everything I'll be saying!

If you have any other questions for me just send me an email or a facebook message and I'll let you know. I know that some of my AKPsi people are planning on doing the FIE London program next semester so if you need any advice, I am here!

I won't be writing a lot during the next three weeks, but come September this blog will probably be my life. I don't have a catchy "Carrie" from Sex and the City phrase, YET. So for now...

Live Long and Prosper! (Just Kidding)

Love,

Miriam
